Tennis

Tucked into a quiet corner of the The Verandah is the Tennis Center, with two lighted tennis courts. For those who'd like a few pointers while on vacation, Qwame, our onsite pro, will be happy to put a new spin on your game with private lessons, by appointment, for an added fee.

• Teaching tennis at The Verandah Resort & Spa for approximately 4 (four) years to present.
• Level One tennis coach.
• Played and coach at the Vilkings Tennis Club for approximately 9 (nine) years.

Hours of Operation: Tuesday to Saturday 8:30am to 4:00pm

Lessons are done on site, hence booking can be made either before or after opening hours. Advance booking is required for Sunday and Monday.

Equipment: Rackets and balls are provided but feel free to bring yours. Rackets can be obtained from the mini-golf station, you can also reserve your court time.

Swim & Snorkel

With its two white-sand beaches, Verandah guests can soak up the sun on our comfortable beach loungers and cool down with frequent dips in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean. The tranquil, protected cove-like bay makes it perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

While at the beach, why not take advantage of complimentary non-motorized water activities such as kayaking, windsurfing, hobby cat sailing and paddle boats.  All of the equipment can be found at the Water Sports Centre and if you're new at any of the sports, instructors are ready to help you get on your way.

Dive

For those who want to really explore beneath the surface, diving is available at our sister resort, St James's Club which offers guests excursions to more than 20 dive sites. Instruction is available for beginner and advanced divers, as well as for children aged 10 and up. Equipment rental is included in the price for instruction. Single-tank, two-tank and night dives are available for an additional charge.  

Diving sites include Cades Reef, part of an underwater park, and the wreck of the Andes, a three-mast merchant ship that sank more than a century ago.

Mamora Bay Divers - Dive Shop

The Mamora Bay Divers Dive Shop is a locally owned company of experienced PADI certified international divers located at the St. James's Club providing a full service dive shop.

Our open water dive instructor, Linda Swann is our multilingual certified PADI Dive instructor, she offers over 15 years of experience with ove 10,000 dives under her belt. Linda has been diving Antigua's best dive sites and surrounding waters for over 5 years. Be sure to pick up a brochure for complete details and pricing.

Please note Dive shop is closed on Saturdays. 


Golf

Golfers can perfect their strokes at two 18-hole courses. The Cedar Valley Golf Course, designed by Ralph Aldridge, is an 18-hole, 6,157 yard, par-70 course with beautiful greens and sweeping views of the surrounding hilltops and the Caribbean sea. The 5,587 yard, par-71 Karl Litton-designed Jolly Harbor Golf Club course offers challenging play and a lovely setting, with seven lakes and hilly fairways surrounded by tropical greenery. After your game, there is excellent shopping nearby, as well as several beaches.
